What is This?

This guide was a tool I created as a visual reference while I mapped out the Realm of Aquilae.

While the software tool I am using to produce this massively-ambitious project is enormously useful, I find that sometimes, there are so many options, that I need some way of making sense and keeping track of it all, and more to the point, of how I make use of the tool.

Thus, this Mapping Guide: it lays out the “terrain stack” in order from highest topography to lowest, and helps me keep track.

Usage Requirements

In order to use this Guide, you will need a copy of Campaign Cartographer 3+ from ProFantasy Software Ltd.

You will also need access to the Herwin Wielink overland drawing style, which as of this writing is included in CC3+.

The intent was to print out a hardcopy of this Guide and to use it as reference while drawing overland maps in CC3+.

Limitations

It is beyond the intended scope of this Guide to provide a walkthrough of the terms, concepts, and skills needed to make use of it. Some moderate to advanced familiarity with CC3+ is assumed.

Fortunately, ProFantasy provides many different avenues for those in need of guidance: dozens of YouTube walkthroughs, Forum posts, and of course there’s always the Facebook User Group (see below) if you need help... who knows, maybe I’ll see you on there!

Disclosure Statement

Although the author of this Guide is not formally affiliated with ProFantasy Software Ltd. in any manner, he is an admin on the Campaign Cartographer 3+ Facebook User Group as of this writing.

This Guide was produced in its entirety as an independent product. Aside from securing explicit agreement that distribution of the texture fills in this Guide are allowed by ProFantasy Software Ltd, no collaboration or involvement was secured or pursued between that company and the author of this Guide.

The Tip of the Iceberg

This Guide is but one of many tools that are leading to the production of the most ambitious, most detailed, and largest fantasy mapping project ever published.

More to come!

You might want to change the description to "universal" and away from Unisystem. That is a trademark for system used in several RPG's (Buffy, Angel Ghost of Albion, All Flesh Must Be Eaten) Good luck though.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
