Interface Zero 2.0 Pathfinder Beta Test document

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In a not-so-distant future, the world has been ravaged by global warming, subjected to the horrors of nuclear war and natural disaster, witnessed the collapse of the mightiest nation in the history of the world, and the rise of other nations to take its place. In East Asia, the Bear and the Dragon battle for control of the resource-rich continent, and an emergent A.I. known only as Charon has destabilized the whole of Europe, sparking revolution and chaos not seen since the Second World War.

On the North American continent, the prospect of conflict once again rears its ugly head as terrorist bombings in Atlantica, bring the nation to the brink of war with the North American Coalition. Is this the work of Charon, as well, or are other forces moving behind the scenes? Only time will tell.

Science has hacked the genome, unlocking the secrets of DNA to facilitate the creation of new breeds of human; genetic hybrids, human 2.0, and even simulacrum— a slave race grown in amniotic vats and sold on the open market. Cybernetic technology has reached the point where those with the money and the will to do so, can become living machines. Computer science has grown by leaps and bounds as well.

Dubbed Interface Zero by those who created it, the Tendril Access Processor—or TAP—downloads the Global DataNet and Hyper Reality directly into the minds of billions of users across the solar system, bringing the world an unparalleled level of interconnectivity, and danger. Malware plagues the Deep, and hackers manipulate the Tendril Access Processor to upload malicious virii, steal secrets, and even the identities of the unwary.

This is the world in 2090, omae; let’s hope you survive it.

Gun Metal Games is pleased to announce the release of our playtest document for the Pathfinder rules conversion of Interface Zero 2.0. In this free download you will find everything you need to run full metal cyberpunk scenarios for four to five players, including our new combat and hacking rules. There are several scenarios for a GM to run, and we've provided pregenerated characters representing all our race and class options. Try Anonymouse, the android hacker, a completely artificial life form with a grown, organic brain who can manipulate hyper reality and security networks at a whim. Or perhaps you'd prefer Bella Nightshade, the idol. She's a human 2.0, prepared for life with the advantage of designer genes and garnering fame as a techno-goth singer. Rikkard Stone is a hybrid, using the advantages of the bear DNA written into his genetic sequence to protect the streets as a sector cop. Moesha Monday is a simulacrum, a vat-grown artificial life form who can pass for human, whose limited lifespan means she lives on borrowed time. As a grifter, she lives life on her own terms, lying and conning people to get what she wants. Meanwhile, FxFactor may only be human, but as a zeek she can use her psionic powers to manipulate minds the way Anonymouse does machines. Use these or any combination of the other 10 characters provided to form a team to tackle the various challenges presented here.

When you've done so, our team would like your feedback. Our design team—Savannah Broadway, Robert Hudson, Jeff Lee, Louis Porter Jr., Andreas Rönnqvist, and Mike Welham—have worked to make Interface Zero 2.0 for Pathfinder a great supplement, but we want it to be awesome. Once you've had a chance to play a bit, we'd appreciate it if you would let us know what you think works, what doesn't, and how it can be improved. We will be posting a thread on the Paizo messageboards in the third party products section at http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderRPG/thirdParty/products for this purpose. Just look for the thread entitled “[Gun Metal Games] Interface Zero 2.0 for Pathfinder Playtest.” If you'd prefer, there is a forum set up on the Gun Metal Games site as well. Go to http://gunmetalgames.net/forum/ and look for the Interface Zero (Pathfinder) section. Finally, you can contact us via email at iz2.0pfplaytest@gmail.com. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, and your constructive criticism will help bring this product to fruition.

Good job putting out something that the masses can appreciate. I ran the Savage Worlds version for about a year and it was pretty good. I like your 1.0 stuff that you removed from 2.0 for the "masses". I wish you didn't have to do this to make money. D20 is terrible in general (ran it for years not knowing). But for this...shoot that 10 lvl dude with a shotgun like 10 times and he is still coming at you. Yeah, yeah...he dodged it or something. That's lame. Cyberpunk should be gritty and dangerous. But whatever...players are fragile creatures, they don't like their "heroes" to die for stupidity. I guess that is why those lame Marvel movies do so well.

Thanks. :) I think people will like this version. Not so much about making money. I've been interested in seeing a cyberpunk setting for Pathfinder. The full version will be out soon.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
