The Patchwork Planet… For You to Explore!

Fresh from the wondermen at PurpleDuck Games-

Lands of Porphyra, the culmination of years of work by many talented artists and writers, whose vision has come together to create a campaign world of dazzling complexity and awesome potential for your Pathfinder campaigns.

Porphyra is a world that grew up without gods, dominated by the followers of the Elemental Lords who oppressed those who would not bow down…until a brave coalition of elves and orcs performed The Calling, and brought an amazing pantheon of gods and the myriad strange lands they loved, to merge with the young world, and start a world-spanning war!

Now, it is eight centuries since the NewGod Wars, and the 50-odd nations and regions of the Patchwork Planet of Porphyra seethe in uneasy truce, the more than 80 races that call it home dreaming of peace- or war anew…

          Included within Lands of Porphyra:

  • 52 distinct nations and regions of this highly varied world
  • 87 races, traditional, new, and unusual, and their place in Porphyra
  • Summaries of the Gods, Landed and Risen; the Elemental Lords, and the mysterious Slithering Symphony
  • Life on Porphyra, both mundane and arcane- and divine
  • 3 unique prestige classes, embodying the struggle of the Deist and Elementalist causes…
  • Regional traits for every nation, and a 1st level introductory adventure in the pivotal Middle Kingdoms- The Ruins of Greencastle!

So get your copy of Lands of Porphyra from Purple Duck Games, and see what amazing things a collaborative vision can create, in the OGL style!

Beautiful work. They aren't kidding when they call this a patchwork planet. There are a lot of fantasy tropes supported by this world. It can handle traditional fantasy, science fantasy, horror, and there are even a couple of locations made specifically for fans of the Lovecraft universe. This world is very inclusive, and delivers on more than I asked of it. It promises to be a lot of fun, I can hardly wait to introduce my players to Porphyra!

Do the new races have stats, or are their entries all fluff?

The entries on the races are descriptive not mechanical. The mechanics for our races are being reveals in Fehr's Ethnology Collected (12 race), the Heroes of... line, and on the Porphyra wikidot.

Does anyone know if this is all new material or just a collection of all the regional books that have been released over the past year along with the book on gods, elemental lords, and the Slithering symphony??? Don't want to double-dip if it is something I already own.

Hi Michael,

This is the foundational document/campaign setting that we were working on in the background. The regional books were developed out of this book. Each of the lands (I think there is 52 of them get 2 pages in this tome) and when authors wrote Heroes of the Fenian Triarchy or Heroes of the Deserts of Siwath they would start with the background provided on their two pages and expand outward.

There is some information on the gods, elemental lords, and protean lords but mostly its a summary as those have been developed in detail elsewhere.

There will be some shared information between the books but this is very much the large overview of everything and the campaign bible for everything else in development. Drop me an email at gedakm@gmail.com to discuss further if you want.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
