The Dungeon Map Tiles III package builds on the foundation of packs one and two to continue expanding the map-building library of map tiles from Studio WyldFurr. This set of map tiles brings a completely new ancient carved marble look-n-feel to your dungeon construction.

This pack also expands the collection with a range of new Grass and Dirt tile textures for building Wilderness areas, along with dirt paths and dirt roads.

Art Assets - Raw Image Files Edition

how-to1.gif

This edition of the Dungeon Map Tiles III pack is designed for use by Game Masters who love building their own maps, and want access to a toolbox of ready-made artistic material rather than the hassle of designing their own material from scratch. The map tiles within this package were designed to act as a library of art assets that a Dungeon Master could simply just drag-n-drop onto a canvas to form a map.

The package contains a wealth of raw image files in JPG, PNG, and WEBP file formats. These image files form the building blocks which you can assemble into the form of a dungeon, fortress, monster lair, or whatever kind of adventure map structure you desire.

Simply start with a blank canvas inside the graphics editing program of your choice, for example, Photoshop, or Gimp. Then start composing the form of an adventure location by grabbing a map tile from the library, then plonk it onto the canvas right where you want it to go. Keep placing down map tiles and your adventure map will take form like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

Using map tiles permits very granular control over the form of your dungeon chambers and passageways, rather than relying on pre-constructed rooms which you cannot change. Once the structure of the map is in place, add the final touches by dressing your map with props and object tokens such as tables, chairs, statues, etc.

We have a growing range of tutorial videos and live streams on the Studio WyldFurr Youtube Channel that can walk you through building adventure maps in Photoshop, Gimp, and even inside Fantasy Grounds.

Map Tile Artwork

Each dungeon map tile is a combination of hand-drawn artwork and photographic source material that gives us the unique style of all Studio WyldFurr Maps. All of the tiles have been rendered from a bird's eye view of the landscape, with shadowing used to give the illusion of depth.

Map Tile Scale

Our range of digital role-playing tokens all use a standard scale of 1 inch to 3 pixels, for a standard Dungeon and Dragons character square of 180 pixels. Thus all of our map tiles also use this character square size. But we have also included smaller 50-pixel square map tiles for those of us who use smaller 50-pixel square sizes.

Printing Out Maps

Although the map tiles provided in this set were designed for use in the creation of maps for the virtual role-playing tabletop, you can print out the maps for use on your real-world tabletop with miniatures. We have included in the pack files that can be used in Photoshop or Gimp to print out maps as A4-size pages for use on the tabletop.

Tailz

"The feedback we have received from fellow role-players who use our map tiles has inspired us to keep expanding the range of map tiles to give Game Masters an ever-expanding pallet as map builders. We hope you have as much fun building maps, and playing out adventures with them, as we do."

~ Tailz from Studio WyldFurr.

IMPORTANT: This pack of art assets is intended for use in creating maps for employment on the virtual role-playing tabletop. In apps such as Fantasy Grounds, Roll20, Battlegrounds, or d20Pro. This package is not a stand-alone game, but a gaming aid for designing role-playing maps for personal use only.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
