The Haunting of Ypsilon 14 is the first Mothership Pamphlet Module. It's formatted like a double sided tri-fold brochure and contains all the information you need to play an excellent one-shot.

Written by D G Chapman (GoGoGolf!, Bastard Magic, The Graverobbe's Guide) with layout by Sean McCoy (Mothership, Dead Planet, A Pound of Flesh), it includes:

  • A fully playable, ready-to-run one shot to drop in to any sci-fi RPG campaign
  • A brand new invisible creature, spawned from a mysterious yellow substance
  • A host of ten new NPCs to interact with
  • Three audio files to use as props for the adventure! Two NPC recordings and a music track -- all to be used in game!
  • Printable BW and color version of the file, ready to be printed and folded and ran right from your home computer.

This adventure is suitable for characters of any level in a survival horror setting and is sure to pose a challenge to even the most battle hardened party.

About to run my first Mothership Adventure. As an experienced GM, I appreciate the simplistic design with enough details for the potential to adjust multiple plot points to flavor the player experience creatively. I can imagine running this numerous times and arriving with a different (often tragic) result each time. If you listen to run-throughs on youtube you will see what I mean. Great Adventure.

Used this to run Moterhship for the first time and it was a great experience. haunting of Ypsilon-14 made it easy to create an unsettling atmosphere for the players. Would recommended

I'm a little confused on the concept of an NPC having both Health and Hits. I thought Hits was supposed to replace Health.

Sean McCoy's answer from the Mothership Discord:

"If an enemy has HITS 2(30) then that means once you've done 30 damage to the enemy you deal one HIT. If you do that again, you kill it. However, if you only do 10 damage to it and it escapes, it'll still be at HITS 2(30) when you see it again.

Note: Damage done in excess of an enemy's health pool by a single attack doesn't carry over. So in the above example, if you were to deal 40 damage to the enemy, it would still have one hit left. Ultimately, the Warden will need to use common sense here."

I am loving this. One odd thing. When I look at the PDF in Dropbox it looks fine, but when I download and open it in Acrobat, it is borderline unreadable. The font looks pixiliated. Any suggestions on how I might fix this?

No, you probably need to switch your print settings to "flip on short edge"

Played this in about 2 hours with our group. We'd played MOTHERSHIP before and knew the rules, which helped a lot. I also gave the PCs an advance at the beginning, so they started at Level 1. It's a well organized, quick playing adventure. It is great for a one-shot or a convention format.

If I had to point out some minor issues, it would be that the adventure needs to be slowed down to build more tension. The second issue is that I'm not sold on the tri-fold format, so if that's something that is difficult, I'd say don't do it. I had to flip back and forth between the two pages often enough that I printed them separately.

I liked Ypsi 14 and will definitely buy more of these adventures.

I've played it at an online con as an introduction to Mothership (1e) and it was awesome. Definitely a great choice for a taste of Mothership imo.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
