Goblins' Gambit

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Trouble brews on the roads near the small village of Mistwood, with merchant wagons increasingly falling victim to ruthless, yet unknown raiders. While not an uncommon occurrence, it’s the random methods of these attacks that confounds local law officials, preventing them from predicting the whereabouts of the next strike. It is not until the players characters stumble upon the remnants of one such attack, finding clues to the identity of the attackers, that the mystery blows wide open.

Who is responsible for these attacks? Why are they kidnapping travellers but sending no ransom demands? And what madness drives the random nature of these attacks?

Goblins’ Gambit is a Genesys Role Playing Game fantasy adventure for the Realms of Terrinoth setting. Suitable for a party of 4-6 adventurers with 50-100 earned XP, the adventure offers PCs the opportunity to piece together clues of the random attacks before developing a plan to catch the raiders in action. Circumstances allow the PCs to track the raiders back to the leader behind the attacks, discovering that all is not as it seems.

In addition to the adventure, printable adversary cards allow the GM easy access to relevant information to make running this adventure easier than ever. We’ve even included a print friendly version to make it even more user friendly.

Developed by veteran GM Chris Markham (as Gazrok Games), this is one of many titles already released for the Foundry and for the Terrinoth setting. Though set in the world of Mennara, its contents easily convert for use in any fantasy world. Using this adventure requires the use of the Genesys Role Playing Game Core Rulebook, Realms of Terrinoth setting book, and either Genesys Dice or the Genesys Dice App. Although not required, we highly recommend using the Expanded Player’s Guide should GMs need to scale the adventure for larger or more powerful groups.

Not only thought about it, but a few workups in various stages. Not everything always comes to fruition as a project, but we'll see. The Sands of the Past is based on a community expansion. More of a supplement than adventure. The issue with the adventures in Descent is that they are deeply tied to the narrative, so an adventure take-off has to be reworked a bit to fit into ongoing campaigns.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
