Dark Santa Holiday Special

Sponsored by Thought Police Interactive

You and your friends discovered Krampus was real last Christmas. It was an accident. Who really expected that stupid book to actually work?

It was a hellish Christmas as dozens, even hundreds, of children were kidnapped. All of them were horrible beaten and chained. Some were even devoured.

As the ones who summoned him, only you could stop him. And you did. You tracked down Jack Frost and made a deal for an ice sword. With it and your ingenuity, you and your friends killed Krampus. Oops.

Now Santa has been filled with the power of Krampus, twisted by it. Instead of eating cookies and milk, he eats children. His reindeer are frothing monstrosities. The elves move across your country in Bacchanalian wave, indulging every vice and leaving broken bodies in its wake.

This Christmas, you must defeat Santa Claus and find a vessel for the spirit of Krampus. The Dark Solstice demands both an avatar of joy and an avatar of sorrow. You really hope this does not become a regular thing.

One Page Motif-Powered RPG

Includes rules for making your characters, resolving your actions, emulating characters, and emulating a story narrator or GM. Based on a stripped down hack of the Motif framework.

Simple system with deep results. Intended for quick pickup games. Player-facing rolls determine outcomes and how good or bad they are for the players.

If we get a lot of downloads and a handful of purchases, we'll make two one-page expansion packs. 1 with pregen PCs and 1 with an NPC template and example NPCs.

Runs on Motif, using the Motif Framework. Be sure to check out our Gold best-selling flagship title, the Motif Story Engine, GM-less and solo toolkit ("GM-ulator") for the Motif Game Framework

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
