Modern day: you know that magic is real.  You are a practitioner of magic of some secret esoteric tradition, whether that be of a neo-pagan Wiccan who must avenge her teacher, a high-class Cambridge scholar of the Ordo Arcanorum on the trail of ancient artifacts, a shaman of an ancient tribe come to the modern world on a vision quest, or a modern mage of the Internet Book of Shadows scrying the net for tidbits of lore.

Or, you could be a skilled expert of a modern prosaic career, out for hire or looking for adventure. You could be ex-soldier in need of some cash, a geeky computer hacker who stumbled onto something strange, a ex-mafiosi on-the-run, or an agent of a government alphabet agency researching the paranormal.

Characters

A game of magic and mysteries, Opus Magi features 24 character playbooks. This includes 12 esoteric magical schools such as; Internet Mage, Chaos Mage, Kuji-in, Neo-Pagan, Vampire, Mystic Yogi, Psion, and others. This also includes 12 prosaic non-magic-using careers such as; Martial Artist, Technician, Rogue, Agent, Hunter, and Special Forces. Character creation is quick, but offers many options.

Magic

Opus Magi has 13 magical domains which allow you to craft your own spells quickly on-the-fly in-game. There are also psionics for certain characters.

Game Play

Opus Magi uses an easy but robust game mechanic (Cepheus Engine D6), giving the player and the Referee a quick learning curve for a fun fast-paced game which still has a lot of bells and whistles.
