Stranded in a Starship Graveyard

Junkyard Blues is a sandbox scenario for M-SPACE, set on a hostile world comprised of starship wrecks and strange artefacts.

Players take on the roles of stranded spacers and must venture across a vast starship graveyard to locate fuel, encountering strange aliens and desperate humans along the way.

Five factions are locked in deadly competition over basic resources – air, water and food. But cooperation might be the wisest choice. Only a select few will be able to leave. Who stays and who goes?

A scenario for 3-6 experienced characters.

To make full use of the scenario you need a copy of M-SPACE.

Junkyard Blues is released under a Mythras Gateway License.

Mention is made of pregen characters, but I can't find any in the scenario book. Is there a link to these that I am missing?

I no longer have an account with TDM's Tapatalk forum, which you need to download files from there. I'm not about to go back either! Thanks anyway, I will wait until the files get updated here.

This scenario looks really "travelish" I love the sandbox structure and the way it includes moral dilemmas.
I can't wait to 77Mundos having it translated to spanish!

Solid sandbox setting that has atmosphere to spare. The variety of elements allows any GM to mod and expand in many different directions. If you are looking for a start point for a campaign or a wonderfully detailed space Sargasso for vet's, this should be on your list for purchase.

Overall, this mini-campaign is an intense adventure, full of both wonders and horrors. The Spacers are faced with moral decisions; they make choices on matters of life and death; and the struggle feels real and visceral as the crew fight to beat the clock for their very survival. The science behind this scenario became very real and very hard, when - less than a week after publication - human scientists accidentally created a real warp bubble, making both the Casimir Effect and the Alcubierre Drive more than just theoretical science fiction concepts. Junkyard Blues is very timely in that regard.

M-Space gives to space opéra worlds a kind of poetry I never seen before. Whatever the world you may create or involve, M-Space has the same effect than Mithra, it gives a taste of another deep world. I will use Junkyard Blues.

I have only lightly read through this new book. Overall as with all the M-Space products I find it outstanding and glad to add to my collection. Keep up the good work.

So, those of us who ordered hardcopies early will receive the un-proofread version?

Hi Steve, the book has been proofread twice, so no need to worry about droves of mistakes. I’m sure there are some - we’re humans after all - but any minor errors should be easy to figure out. Otherwise, you can just drop me an email at clarence.redd@gmail.com. I usually answer within a few hours. About the Creavalle, all the information you need is on page 15. But if you want, you can always make the purchase at a later date.

Unfortunately the "Creavalle" entry, p.74, is an exact copy of the "Wuh’ja’ta" on the previous page. A related question, Queen Araime Erusha's skills are very close to a standard Creavalle, except for Influence and Insight, so her Willpower for example is the same as a common Creavalle, seems odd for a Queen. Yet the very young J'Kawa has many superior skills, including Willpower .. this seems a bit strange.

I have not looked at all the characters, but Captain O'Reilly, for example, looks massively under-skilled. By a rough count, he is about 170 points down (he seems to have approx 180 points, when a starting character usually has 350). I realise NPCs don't necessarily follow PC creation rules, but this seems off. A number of the captain's standard skills are base percentage, and at least one is *below* the base starting value. Just glancing at a few others, the Torchbearer crew has Willpower at 19%, below the starting value which is 24% (POWx2). I have not read the whole...See more

Thanks for the input. In the final version I have before it was sent off, the Creavalle on page 74 is not at all a copy of the Wuh'ja'ta on page 73. I ordered the book and was surprised it doesn't come with a free pdf so I haven't had a chance to verify this to figure out how that mistake came to be. Thanks for catching the Willpower error. It is something we can fix for later. As for O'Reilly, since the two ships were identical, the only advantage to the PCs would be skill. After extensive play testing, the crew of the Torchbearer, being non hero NPC's weren't given the 150 bonus skills. In fact, they weren't "rolled up" at all. They were tweaked to the power level I wanted them to be. In any event, stats are always just for a guideline. If you as GM feel your group is stronger, you can make the Torchbearer crew more competent to give them a better challenge. Just be aware that it's not going to endear many players if, having finally escaped the Junkyard, the GM decides to blast them out of space with...See more

Thanks James and Xavier! I will try to fix the missing text in an update. In the meantime, the description of the Creavalle on page 15 is correct. Sorry for the inconvenience.

About the skill levels, they are tuned to fit the scenario. But, as Scott says, you can always adjust them to fit your group of players better.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
