River in a Mountainous Landscape – II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A picturesque river following its peaceful course through a mountainous region where dense high forests alternate with tidy plantations, tended by proud and sturdy men doing an honest day's work? Or rather a rotten place where a human life is cheaper than that of a beech, and a perfect place for an ambush at that?

It's another nice and totally innocent spot for you to have in store whenever their quest takes your PCs through a mountainous landscape.

In astonishingly realistic top views we present typical outdoor locations for your RPG: Areas of 1500 by 1500 feet for projection or printing; that is, more than 50 acres of terrain for fight or flight.

River in a Mountainous Landscape - II - preview 1

Our maps are timeless, culture-free and system neutral, and can be played on or populated by elves, agents, aliens, SWAT teams and, of course, any human hero of any epoch whatsoever.

  • Large format relief map (covering an area of 1500 by 1500 feet)
  • Map features: Elevations and contour lines, scale bar and grid (30 feet per square or hex) to toggle on/off
  • Interactive PDF enabled for commenting (e.g., add notes or use sticky notes to indicate positions of PCs, NPCs or whatever is lurking there)
  • Additional versions of the map for customized printouts (no extra grayscale versions)
  • Selected landscape views for a better impression
  • 3D model for a full grasp of the terrain's possibilities

Please note that Adobe Reader X is required to print our large format maps on several pages ("Tile large pages").

River in a Mountainous Landscape - II - preview 2

You may ask: "Why is this map cheaper than your first one?"
Our second map in this product line is different from the first one, "River in a Mountainous Landscape - I", insofar as it focuses purely on mapmaking (and of course it shows a different terrain). We added the above depicted 3D model which helps a lot to grasp all the terrain's possibilities. At the same time, we skipped the additional story seeds. This way we can offer you the actual map at a more favorable price.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
