Really enjoying Aegean! I've only read the overview chapter so far, but I've skimmed the whole book a few times, and read some of the salient parts, like character creation, action resolution, and combat. I really like what I'm seeing--familiar rules and mechanics from other games, but a combination of my favorite parts. The 'characteristic + attribute = dice pool' feels like Storyteller, the weapon properties and Resolve/Risk currency feels like Conan 2d20, and the city building and management feels like Forbidden Lands. But as I said, these disparate parts are weaved together in a way that feels organic, innate, and intuitive. I really can't wait to bring it to the table.
I'm also a huge fan of the Classics, and I really love how mythic Greece and historic Greece blend together, allowing play in a world that feels epic, like Homer. Also, there's a real respect for the source material--not bending the inspiration, but appealing to modern sensibilities. I'm a high school teacher and I have an RPG club. So many students love Greek Mythology, but the few RPGs I've played based on Greek Mythology have either been too unfamiliar, or just re-skinned D&D. I think this approach will hit all the right notes: heroic fantasy that's gritty and meaningful. The Hubris mechanic is brilliant!
I'm happy to say I believe I will be a devoted customer, player, and GM of Aegean and it's related products.
