Overall, this is a very good map, with a well-designed layout and a high level of artistic quality. Also, the inclusion of both the "new" and "ruined" versions of the manor is a brilliant idea. I will be using it as the manor house for a minor noble who has fallen on hard times but still holds the family residence. It has the misfortune, in my assessment, of being compared to the superb High Edgmoor Hall, which I have already reviewed. I miss the high level of detail that's evident in the latter map. In comparison, Edgmoor Manor looks sort of empty and generic, and while this does provide greater flexibility as to what each space is for, I still dislike having essentially blank rooms. I also find the lack of doors extremely annoying. I know I can print out the free doors provided by Heroic Maps and glue/tape them onto my printout, but it's one more more thing I have to do to prep for the session. And really, doors? I didn't realize their placement was so controversial! Despite my criticisms, I still think this is a very useful map, and I look forward to using it.

Hi! Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoy the new/ruined aspect of the maps. There is a considerable difference in the quality and detail between this map and our new High Edgmoor Hall - that's the benefit of 5 years of practice and making over 400 additional maps! Still, we're really happy that this map is still going to add something to your game. The doors being absent, and the lack of furniture, is an artefact of the initial reason we started making battlemaps - as expansions for the boardgame Heroquest, where doors are placed with 3d model doors (in any position), as is furniture. Still, we're very pleased you'll find a use for old Edgmoor Manor :)

I really like this map from Heroic Maps. I was looking for a fort for my game, that would be controlled by bandits, and provide a possible stronghold for my players, and I stumbled upon this map. I love the fact that there is a ruined version and a fixed version, so I can have the players take the fort in its ruined state, and allow them to repair sections (by printing off the repaired maps, then cutting out the repaired spots and taping them down over the broken spots that were fixed). I'm planning on getting both of the Manor house maps (ruined/repaired) printed onto a doublesided map, then having it laminated for long term use. At first I didn't like the fact that doors were not already added to the map, but now, I like the idea of being able to print them and add them wherever I want with some tape. My only complaint is the lack of an upstairs view.

Hi Jason Thanks for your very kind review. We love your idea for having the players fix up the map by replacing ruined sections with intact versions - very imaginative. So glad you\'re enjoying the set. We\'re also glad that you\'ve grown to appreciate the flexibility our door system offers for re-playability. An upstairs is certainly a possible update, too. Thanks

Pros: These are gorgeous maps. There is both a ruined and an intact version of the manor in this set. They are both very well done. The colors are great and the graphics are top notch. Cons: I had a couple of concerns with these maps though. First, the files are setup for only A4 size paper. This really is not a problem except that I did not realize that was the case until after I printed them on letter-sized paper. The end result was that there was a 1/4 inch strip missing between every sheet top and bottom. Again, this was my fault and I suppose I could have possibly avoided the gap if I had selected the shrink to fit option when printing, but I never do that. Second, there are no doors in the pictures. The walls are mostly solid without any means to enter some of the rooms. The publisher does have a free pdf with doors that can be placed on top of the manor map, but small doors tend to shift around and lose their place. Overall: Overall this a great set of maps. The graphics are crisp and the colors are well done. I most likely will purchase other maps in this line in the future. I would definitely prefer if the maps were also available in Letter-size as well as A4, but again this is not really a "deal breaker" in my opinion. It just should be known before wasting a number of sheets of printer paper.
