Monsters of Conjuration by Reality Deviant Press is the second of RDP?s ?Monsters of Magic? line which presents monsters linked to the various D&D schools of magic. Monsters of Conjuration is interesting in that it is entirely open content, so all of it, is available for use. To further make this product more useful for the buyer it comes in a standard version, a printer friendly version and as a doc files, so it can be easily cut and pasted from. Very handy that.
Six new monsters are included ranging from CR 1 to 6 each with an accompanying illustration. They are a mixed bag of creatures (one aberration, one fey, one magical beast and three outsiders), two, the Matran and the Planar Hound, have an intertwined background which provides some interesting interplay.
The Darkfire Hunters are a dying race of elemental creatures that hunt the lower reaches of the underground world seeking revenge. The Deaurts are small fey that like making ?art? from corpses and have access to several summoning abilities. Grabasts are (literally) greasy abominations that hunt in packs. The Matrans are a race of created warriors and assassins that escaped into the planes with the aid of the Planar Hounds, who are intelligent winged hounds who are allied with the Matran but have their own agenda. Lastly, there are Smoke Spiders, who create their own smoke screen while they hunt. Two advanced versions, a sorcerer Deaurt and a fighter Matran, are presented.
To reinforce the conjuration theme, there are seven new spells from the conjuration school presented. All of the spells look interesting and useful, in the right circumstances.
A well constructed book with useful monsters and interesting ideas for expanding the conjuration school.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
