Space Shuttle Alpha

My review of Space Shuttle Alpha:

First off, be aware that this is a set of digital STL files to print with a 3d printer. The combination and quality of your printer, filament, and the speed you choose to print at, WILL have an effect on the final quality of the printed product.

That being said, these files are EXCELLENT! The detail is very crisp, and the parts fit together very nicely. The walls and structure are well formed and clip together well. Complete, it has a nice heft and is rather "gamer resistant". I would not be afraid of having other people lift, touch, and/or manipulate the model; it is sturdy enough to handle normal wear and tear (and the occasional picking it up and making "whooshing noises").

As configured from the modules included in the model – it is a simple troop shuttle, with the crew compartment seating 4, and the cargo compartment seating 8 troopers. It also has a weapons locker for the carried grunts. However, due to the modular nature of the internal components – it would be fantastically easy to make it a "pure" cargo shuttle by printing more floor panels and removing many of the interior modules to make for lots of floor space. Or even to make an"X-Com"-esque dropship – by moving the "grunt" seating to the middle compartment, and having the rear converted to a cargo compartment to carry a S.H.I.V or MEC trooper.

Simply put - this model has ludicrous amounts of potential.

As such, I strongly recommend this package to anyone who has a 3d printer and needs a shuttle for gaming purposes. 5/5 stars.

Battlestations Advanced Rulebook web
Publisher: Gorilla Games

Battlestation Advanced Rulebook is the full rulebook for Battlestations Second edition, expanding upon the rules and options found in the Battlestations board game.

Battlestations is the game of heroic spaceship combat, designed for 1 - many players. You play characters of varying races and abilities, running around on your starship, using those battlestations to accomplish tasks to move your ship around on a space map and accomplish your mission. It can be played cooperatively, but the "normal" version has one person being the GM/overlord/mastermind/etc and the others playing crew.

The basic rules can pretty much be boiled down to (2d6+appropriate skill) vs target number. Anyone can roll against any skill, but Professionals get rerolls for rolls using their appropriate skill (Marines use Combat, Engineers use Engineering, Pilots use Piloting, and Scientists use Science). Your engineers run around gettting "more power out of the engines", and repairing damaged modules. Marines fire the ship's weaponry, repel boarders, and go boarding themselves. Pilots manuever the ship, fly fighters, and yell at the engineers because they need more power from the engines. And scientists scan for mission clues nad data, run the teleporters and hyperdrive, and heal their compatriots of damage.

If you've ever played and enjoyed the FTL computer game - the first edition of Battlestations predates it by about a decade. And you'll probably enjoy Battlestations.

This is the "lighter" version of the rulebbok - a smaller pdf file more suitable for tablets.
