This review contains minor spoilers, though no specifics, for elements of this adventure.

An excellent one shot adventure or one-off segment of a sandbox game, or any urban crawl with a focus on Ubersreik. There are elements I have minor issues with -- namely, the lack of a player map -- but a little bit of photoshop, a blunt MS Paint retexturing, or a copy of the GM map without the Key alleviates this easily enough, and this is still my favorite of the Ubersreik Adventures despite that failure.

The NPCs are an absolute joy to play with well enough defined backgrounds and motivations to inspire a good night of game with threads that might bleed out into a larger game if you'd want without much GM input. The lack of combat, save for the final confrontation, also helps inspire the closed room mystery element and remind players that the Old World shouldn't all be bloodshed and violence on a PC level. The confrontation is malleable enough due to the Warhammer world's inclusion of mutants and wild methods of mutation that you could, as I did, turn her into something more harmless and blind in her hunger rather than the actual villain at hand if your players truly despise combat as a whole.

This is a must-have adventure for any GM running WFRP 4th Edition!

As a GM unaccustomed to some of the grime associated with the Old World, I'm always on the lookout for information to help me understand the basic structure of a WFRP 4th game. If you're like me and somewhat lost in new waters then this book in combination with the Starter Set is a godsend.

What strikes me about this book is the intricacy with which the adventures are woven. Anything and everything a practical GM could need or even want is detailed in blatantly noted Plots accompanied by timelines composed of scenes. These help the GM construct a coherent narrative out of tonal shifts that if mishandled could be strange without being fun. I can't wait to run scenarios like these:

The usual easy night of drinking and gambling at a tavern that most of us are familiar with quickly devolves into a black comedy farce that inspired me to run the first part the instant I read it. A wedding with touches of romanticism, courtly intrigue spanning multiple regions, and even gothic horror can easily derail itself into an Abbott and Costello romp if one plot point is of player interest.

This is wonderful and my patience will surely be tested waiting for the physical release!

This might be my favorite setting. Ever. It is such an atmospheric, horrifying dreamscape. Every one of the cultures and regions is thoroughly described and showcases elements of debauchery, decadance, and plain 'ole evil in ways that I adore. It is also somewhat modular due to the otherworldly nature.

One bugbear I've got with it is in the print version. Not enough care seems to have been taken for some of the columns in the bestiary, which can run over to the next page, or to some spelling and grammatical errors. Nothing gamechanging, just minor nitpicking.

This is highly recommended. Seriously, even if only for the bestiary with its strange monstrosities and ghosts and the tables for creating poisons and teas.

Well written and refreshing setting. I tried adding this to my current game and had so much fun with the options and it inspired a good night of adventures that could extend for a LONG time! Highly recommended for any setting or campaign that could use a somewhat lighter touch now and again.

This setting/rules agnostic book is an extremely lean mini-game meant to represent the harshness of winter as its own "chapter" of an adventure. I'd say it does an excellent job on all of those fronts.

• The book assumes that the village within is nameless, but applying the methods in the book to any of your own established borderlands homestead is not a problem due to the generic terminology used.
• The worksheets provided are clean and though I do wish they were labeled, I understand that the author wanted an aesthetic that made it plain to the GM that this is system agnostic. It is worth mentioning even if it is easy to fix and I don't think it warrants docking a point.
• Tables are concise and not overly large, they don't need to be anyways.
• The quick reference page provided on pg. 34 (n.p.) provides a snapshot of the game as a whole for the GM's ease-of-use
• The optional difficulty rules and provided map tiles in Chapters 4 and 5, respectively, are just fantastic. The former makes it so much easier to run this for any group of players without any additional work from the GM, which I always appreciate. Too many supplements assume extra work from the GM that this takes care of for you.

I've already run this on a test run with the PDF but I'll be much happier to run it with the stylish, barren-covered print version that just arrived.
